Canada Dental Benefit β Affordable Dental Care for Families & Seniors
At Hamilton Family Dentistry, we are committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of income, can access high-quality dental care. If you or your family members need assistance covering dental expenses, you may qualify for the Canada Dental Benefit (CDB) or the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). These government programs provide financial support for eligible families and seniors, helping them maintain optimal oral health.
What is the Canada Dental Benefit?
The Canada Dental Benefit (CDB) is an interim federal program designed to provide financial assistance to eligible families earning less than $90,000 annually. This benefit specifically helps parents and guardians cover dental expenses for children under 12 years old who do not have access to private dental insurance.
Canada Dental Care for Seniors
If you are 65 or older, you may qualify for the upcoming Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP):
- Seniors aged 70 and older should expect application instructions by mail by March 2024.
- For those aged 65-69, applications will be available online starting May 2024.
Am I Eligible?
Eligible families can receive tax-free payments from the federal government to help cover their childβs dental expenses. The benefit amount varies based on household income:
- Up to $650 per child for families earning under $70,000
- Up to $390 per child for families earning between $70,000 and $79,999
- Up to $260 per child for families earning between $80,000 and $89,999
Applications are open through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website and will remain available until June 30, 2024.
When Did the Program Start?
The Canada Dental Benefit was launched on December 1, 2022, covering eligible expenses retroactively from October 1, 2022.

Parents or guardians must apply through the CRA website and provide details such as:
